Our Favourite Shops on Lamb’s Conduit St

Eat, drink, be merry

Lamb’s Conduit Street is one of London’s most interesting streets. It’s a friendly community of independent shops, cafes, restaurants, and pubs where you’ll find fashion, food, fine wine, good beer, and a warm welcome. Oh, and Huckle The Barber of course.

To help you get the most from your next visit to Lamb’s Conduit Street, we’ve put together this round-up of our favourite places on and around the street. This is certainly not an exhaustive list, there are loads of excellent spots to check out, but this should give you a feel for what’s going down on the most happening thoroughfare in Bloomsbury.

We caught up with Marshal, manager and barber at our Lamb’s Conduit Street shop, to get the inside info on the street.

Over to Marshal…

Drink

Noble Rot

51 Lamb's Conduit St, London WC1N 3NB

“This is my favourite place to drink wine. It’s super cosy with an open fire in winter and they serve a wide selection of fine wines by the glass or bottle. The staff are young and passionate and have deep knowledge of the best tipples.

They’re very welcoming, the opposite of the red-nosed, old duffer stereotype, which is great if you’re a newcomer to wine like me.”

The Lamb

94 Lamb's Conduit St, London WC1N 3LZ

“If I had to describe a pub to someone who’d never been to one, The Lamb would spring to mind. This is a Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA) certified Heritage Victorian pub: proper job. Decent beer and honest pub grub.”

The Duke

7 Roger St, London WC1N 2PB

“Tucked away on John’s Mews, The Duke is a hidden gem. You need to drink your pint from a tankard glass with a handle, and then join the darts club. Don’t expect craft lager and food served on pieces of wood. This is an old school pub, great for a quiet pint.”

Coffee

The Espresso Room

31-35 Great Ormond St, London WC1N 3HZ

“These guys really know how to make coffee. They offer superb non-dairy and caffeine-free alternatives too. Is it the world’s smallest coffee shop? Probably not, but there’s always a warm welcome and they’re obsessive about the black stuff. They keep the doctors and nurses of Great Ormond Street Hospital fired up and ready for any emergency.”

Eat

Fryer’s Delight

19 Theobalds Rd, London WC1X 8SL

“I’ve had a life-long passion for fish and chips. If I’m ever craving home comforts after a trip overseas, Fryer’s Delight is my first port of call. It’s also a favourite with cabbies. A bag of chips from here paired with a lovely white wine from Noble Rot - what could be better?

How many haircuts do I have to do to burn off fish and chips? Lots. So book me up!”

Ciao Bella

86-90 Lamb's Conduit St, Bloomsbury, London WC1N 3LZ

“Ciao Bella is probably the most famous establishment on Lamb’s Conduit Street. This classic Italian restaurant seems to host every staff party and birthday in Bloomsbury. It’s so Italian it feels like you’re on holiday. It’s packed at all times. Huge portions, huge atmosphere, hugely reliable. Booking essential.”

Banh Mi Bay

4-6 Theobalds Road, Holborn, London, WC1X 8PN

“A great central London location for your Vietnamese fix. The pho is as good as any on Kingsland Road. It’s always busy, so the ingredients are really fresh. Perfect for a tasty, guilt-free lunch.”

Shop

Oliver Spencer

62 Lamb's Conduit St, London WC1N 3LW

“Lamb’s Conduit Street has a few high-end menswear stores, but this is my favourite. The clothes are exceptionally well made, timelessly stylish, and suit all occasions. The formal and loungewear ranges are split over two adjacent shops. The service is good too, personal and friendly.

Aesop

50 Lamb's Conduit St, London WC1N 3LH

“Home of great skincare. Inspired by Lamb’s Conduit Street’s history, the Aesop shop has running water flowing across the shelves. It’s really cool. The products are superb too, made with potent natural ingredients.

The facials are incredibly relaxing. You sit in a comfy chair, get wrapped in a cocoon, and have an experience designed specifically for your skin type. Imagine the amount of pollution we’re exposed to in London. Your skin deserves a cleanse.”

Volte Face

21 Great Ormond St, London WC1N 3JB

“This shop is brilliant for stationery and quirky birthday cards. It’s one of those places you can spend ages just browsing all the lovely things that you don’t really need, but really want. It’s a nicely curated selection of good taste. A good place to pick up a gift for someone you don’t know what to buy.”

Boutalls Chemist

60 Lamb's Conduit St, London WC1N 3LW

“Boutalls has a surprisingly good selection of haircare stuff including Kent brushes. It’s your friendly neighbourhood pharmacy. Pick up your grooming essentials on the way home or to the airport.”
