Hedonistic Happenings
We’re hurtling towards Christmas. Party season is almost upon us. If you need inspiration for the perfect night out in East London, we’ve got you covered in this post.
There are so many banging places to choose for a night out in East London we could write a book. But we haven’t. Instead we’ve kept it super simple with just two options for each of the following categories: Eat, Drink and Dance. You could select one from each category for a truly epic night or simply pick one venue and spend the whole evening there. Now we’re done micromanaging your social life — on with the list.
Eat
Bright
Bright is brought to you by the people behind Clapton wine shop P Franco. It’s less of a sceney place and more of a stripped-back haven for foodies. Not so much Instagrammable as straight up nyammable. Expect to be surprised by the ever-changing menu, with an impressive list of natural wines to accompany.

Cornerstone
Fine dining in Hackney Wick? Why not. Chef Tom Brown takes his passion for fish off-piste for some truly memorable maritime munching. How about a smoked salmon scotch egg, raw scallops thinly sliced and served with herb sauce, or potted shrimp on a freshly made crumpet? If that sounds like your bag you know what to do.

Drink
The Pembury Tavern
This locals’ favourite was recently taken over by Five Points Brewery. The pub sits right on the busy junction from which the brewery takes its name. The place has been sympathetically refurbed this year and they’ve kept the much-loved pizzas. There’s a full range of Five Points brews on offer as well as ales from other independent hop masters.

Sin Gusano
Is it better to do one thing really well or lots of things averagely? Better ask your therapist. But Sin Gusano, a mezcal bar on Kingsland Road, has definitely plumped for the first option. Rare varieties and favourite brands of the smokey agave liquor are served in flights, accompanied by worm salt for that genuine Oaxaca experience.

Dance
Printworks
The London club scene is on its arse. Except…not entirely. Printworks opened its doors in late 2017. It’s a jaw-dropping 4,000-capacity industrial funhouse that attracts the best DJs in the world. Latest opening is about 2am but the venue specialises in daytime parties with 11 hours of music. Upcoming acts include Bicep, Rüfüs du Sol and Gorgon City.

FOLD
Somewhat smaller, the 600-capacity FOLD is another ray of light on the capital’s party landscape. No issue with late licenses here: this venue holds 24-hour electronic music bonanzas deep in the heart of an industrial estate in Canning Town. FOLD is part of the Shapes Collective fighting the closure of London clubs. Upcoming acts include Mord, David Vunk and Cartulius Day.
The website doesn’t have much info, perhaps it’s under construction, but you can see listings here https://www.residentadvisor.net/club.aspx?id=155399
